Studi Metaanalisis Performa Pertumbuhan Kambing Boer dan Hasil Persilangannya di Beberapa Negara

Abstract

Studi metaanalisis bertujuan mengevaluasi keunggulan pertumbuhan kambing Boer dan hasil persilangannya yang telah dilaporkan dari berbagai penelitian di beberapa negara. Sebanyak 11 hasil penelitian dengan 14 perlakuan pertumbuhan kambing Boer telah dikumpulkan dari beberapa website yang menyediakan database sains. Analisis keragaman pertumbuhan bobot badan dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan general linear model (GLM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa potensi genetik kambing Boer dan dan hasil persilangannya dapat tumbuh dengan baik (p<0,05) jika dikembangkan di negara-negara beriklim temperate seperti Eropa dan Amerika. Pola pemeliharaan intensif mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan kambing Boer dan hasil persilangannya (p<0,05). Hasil persilangan kambing Boer memiliki sifat pertumbuhan yang baik terhadap tetuanya (p>0,05). Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa kambing Boer merupakan tetua yang tepat pada program persilangan dalam rangka perbaikan mutu genetik kambing lokal.
