Deteksi Virus African Horse Sickness pada Kuda Menggunakan ELISA Menjelang Asian Games 2018

Abstract

Penyakit African Horse Sickness (AHS) sangat infeksius pada kuda dan keledai. Penyakit ini disebabkan oleh virus African Horse Sickness dari family Reoviridae, genus Orbivirus. Pertandingan berkuda (equestrian) pada Asian Games ke XVIII Tahun 2018 memerlukan persyaratan zona bebas terhadap penyakit kuda atau equine disease free zone (EDFZ) sesuai dengan standar internasional. Sebanyak 180 sampel serum kuda yang berasal dari DKI Jakarta dan sekitarnya diuji untuk mendeteksi antibodi terhadap virus AHS menggunakan uji ELISA. Hasil menunjukkan tidak satu kuda pun mempunyai antibodi terhadap virus AHS. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa kuda di Indonesia masih bebas dari infeksi virus AHS. Penelitian tentang deteksi penyakit kuda ini merupakan yang pertama dilaporkan di Indonesia.
