Keberadaan Virus Nipah pada Pteropus sp di Sumatera Utara

Abstract


Nipah merupakan salah satu penyakit zoonosis yang dapat berakibat fatal bagi manusia. Kalong pemakan buah, Pteropus sp diketahui sebagai pembawa Nipah. Sebanyak 50 swab saliva dari Pteropus sp asal Sumatra Utara dikumpulkan dan diuji untuk keberadaan virus Nipah menggunakan uji Reverse Transcryptase-Polymerase Chained Reaction (RT-PCR). Virus Nipah ditemukan pada dua sampel swab saliva. Hasil tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa Pteropus sp berperan penting sebagai inang pembawa alami virus Nipah di Indonesia.
