Deteksi Larva Cacing Nematoda Sebelum dan Sesudah Pengobatan pada Beberapa Bangsa Domba

Abstract


Infeksi cacing nematoda saluran pencernaan merupakan salah satu faktor penghambat upaya peningkatan produktivitas ternak domba. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis larva dan persentase pertumbuhan cacing nematoda yang dimungkinkan mengalami resistensi terhadap anthelmintik pada ternak domba. Feses dari tujuh bangsa domba milik Balitnak Bogor dikoleksi. Masing-masing bangsa diambil 20 ekor sebagai sampel. Domba diberi pengobatan antelmentik albendazole golongan Benzimidazole. Sampel feses diambil pada hari ke-0 (sebelum pengobatan), hari ke-7 dan ke-14 pasca-pengobatan. Feses diperiksa jumlah telurnya (epg) sebagai metode dari fecal egg count reduction test (FECRT) dan dikultur untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan jenis larva nematoda yang ada. Larva yang tumbuh kemudian dihitung persentasenya dan diidentifikasi jenis larva nematodanya. Larva cacing nematoda yang diidentifikasi adalah Haemonchus spp, Trichostrongylus spp, Cooperia spp dan Oesophagostomum spp. Larva Haemonchus merupakan larva terbanyak di setiap bangsa domba baik dari sampel feses hari ke-0 (sebelum pengobatan) maupun hari ke-7 dan ke-14 pasca-pengobatan. Haemonchus tidak mengalami penghambatan dalam perkembangannya meskipun domba telah diberi pengobatan. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi larva dan tingginya persentase pertumbuhan larva Haemonchus, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Haemonchus mengalami resistensi terhadap antelmientik albendazole golongan benzimidazole. Tingginya persentase larva Haemonchus dibandingkan dengan larva cacing lain dapat membahayakan produktivitas ternak sehingga perlu strategi pengendalian yang tepat. Pengelolaan ternak yang baik, studi epidemiologi serta kemungkinan penggunaan teknologi molekuler dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pengendalian penyakit parasit.
